Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Home office flat rate, child allowance, commuter flat rate and more: For Brandenburger, a lot will change again in 2021 when it comes to taxes, as the Ministry of Finance explains.

HOME OFFICE PACKAGE

If you work from home and still cannot deduct your home office from tax, the tax office grants you a home office flat rate: five euros per day can be claimed from the tax office.

The lump sum may only be charged for the days on which you worked exclusively at home and is limited to 600 euros per year.

This covers all expenses that arise from the professional use of the apartment, such as electricity or heating costs.

COMMUTER PACKAGE

From 2021, commuters can claim five cents more for work-related trips between their home and their first place of work - at least from the 21st kilometer.

The flat rate increases from 0.30 to 0.35 euros.

For the first 20 kilometers, the existing flat rate of 0.30 euros remains.

CORONA AID

Aid and support for employees affected by the Corona crisis are tax-free until June 30, 2021 up to a maximum of 1500 euros.

CHILD SUPPORT

The child benefit increases by 15 euros per child per month from January: for the first and second child it rises to 219 euros, for the third child to 225 euros and from the fourth child to 250 euros per month.

The children's allowances will increase from the current EUR 7812 to EUR 8388 per child in 2021.

They are made up of the child allowance and the allowance for childcare, education or training needs.

SOLIDARITY SURCHARGE

The exemption limit for the solidarity surcharge will increase from 2021. In future, people whose collectively agreed income tax does not exceed 16,956 euros (33,912 euros for married couples assessed together) no longer have to pay a deduction.

So far, the limit was 972 euros or 1944 euros for married people.

The amount of the collectively agreed income tax depends on the income and the tax allowances.
