Garmisch-Partenkirchen (dpa) - Anze Lanisek has won the qualification for the New Year's jumping at the Four Hills Tournament of ski jumpers.

The Slovenian prevailed on Thursday in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ahead of Halvor Egner Granerud from Norway and Markus Eisenbichler.

The second best German was Karl Geiger in fifth place.

In addition to the two top German jumpers, seven other athletes from the team of national coach Stefan Horngacher qualified for the knockout duels of the best 50 ski jumpers this Friday.

Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger didn't make it.

Shortly before the start, the Norwegians had to cope with a bitter failure: Marius Lindvik, who was well in the race after his third place in Oberstdorf, cannot compete in the second stop on the tour due to a bad toothache.
