China: for Xi Jinping, the year 2020 is "extraordinary"

Chinese President Xi Jinping offered New Year's greetings on December 31.

The Chinese president sent his best wishes to the Chinese people, a speech expected after the appearance of the coronavirus on Chinese soil.

But Xi Jinping was positive in a speech intended to show the merits of the Chinese Communist Party and its governance.

Facing the camera, the Chinese president began his presidential vows by describing the year 2020 as an “extraordinary” year.

He then extended his thanks to the medical profession, the military, scientists and volunteers who have allowed China to control the epidemic at the risk of their lives.

Xi Jinping also wanted to express his sympathy to all those infected, before quickly starting several minutes of self-congratulations on his management of the health crisis.

The speech, which lasted about ten minutes, was interspersed with images of hospital personnel in combat or even military parades to remind that China has won its people's war against the epidemic. 

The Chinese president also insisted that China was the only power to see, in this black year,

its economy grow.

Before concluding, presenting yourself with a unifying profile.

On video conference footage with other international leaders, he recalled the importance of unity to end the coronavirus pandemic.
