Two years after a historic mobilization for the right to abortion in Argentina, the emotion among feminist activists was high when the vote was announced in Buenos Aires.

With 38 votes for and 29 against, the government's bill was passed much more widely than expected.

Abortion is a basic right of women that should have been recognized in the very first Constitution of our country!

This law should finally allow Argentina to put an end to clandestine abortions which, when performed in poor sanitary conditions, result in the hospitalization of 38,000 women each year.
