Chemnitz (AP) - The Niners Chemnitz caused the next surprise in the basketball league and won the Central German duel.

The newcomer prevailed on Wednesday against MBC Syntainics from Weißenfels with 96:79 (50:41).

The best throwers were Joe Lawson (Chemnitz) and Michal Michalak (MBC) with 23 points each.

After four wins in a row, the Weißenfels team suffered another defeat.

The people of Chemnitz found their way into the game better and punished almost every mistake made by the guests.

Lawson gave the Niners a clear 18: 3 lead with a lay-up after six minutes.

The team of coach Rodrigo Pastore remained dominant and went into the first quarter break with a 14 point lead (27:13).

Led by Sergio Kerusch, the MBC fought back in the second section and was able to reduce the gap to six points.

Niners captain Malte Ziegenhagen converted a three-point throw to the 50:41 break.

The hosts came out of the dressing room more dynamically and were able to extend their lead again at the beginning of the third quarter.

Jan Niklas Wimberg scored from a distance to 60:45 (24th).

MBC coach Silvano Poropat took a break, but his team continued to reveal too large gaps on the defensive.

Chemnitz went into the last quarter with a 71:57 lead.

MBC top scorer Michalak led his team back to seven points.

But the Niners had strong nerves and could not snatch their first home win of this season.
