• Events. X-ray of squatting in Madrid: almost four usurpations a day and 15%, violent assaults

Dozens of residents of Pozuelo de Alarcón have demonstrated every afternoon since last Christmas Day in front of a semi-detached house in an urbanization on Calle de la Virgen de Fátima that has been squatted three times in recent months by suspected drug traffickers.

The house was owned by a married couple who died three years ago.

They had no children and a nephew who took care of them is the one who is processing the inheritance. Last November a group of people already squatted the house.

They sell drugs in the locality, according to Paqui, one of the neighbors.

The relative reported the events and a trial was held that forced them to vacate the house.

However, the same squatters invaded the house again on December 24.

Seeing that they came back in,

the neighbors mobilized and began to harass the residents with the blow of a saucepan.

"They left for the weekend and on Monday other squatters came back," explains another neighbor.

“Now three people have entered with a minor and the worst thing is that from the windows they laugh at us.

They make fun of us and signs of contempt

“Describes Carmen, who assures that several days of insecurity have already passed when the first squatting by some traffickers took place. The Police appeared at the house on Monday and asked the tenants for documentation.

They assured the agents that they had been inside for more than a day and that no one could kick them out.

«

As the house is not the habitual abode of a family, it is considered usurpation

and the owners have to sue again, "according to one of the residents." The laws do not protect our neighbors and they do, "laments Javier, a retiree who lives on the same street.

"The other day, when we were demonstrating, the Police told us that they were going to report us for not having permission from the Government Delegation, being more than 25 people and not respecting social distance," adds this man.

Neighbors say they feel abandoned by the institutions.

"To make force we only have the protest and make life impossible for them," says Carmen, who assures that they have also been hooked on the light illegally. Among those attending the caceroladas was the spokesman for Vox in the City Council, Ignacio Fernández , which indicated that it is «one of

the consequences of the disaster of social communist management

and the result of measures such as the latest government decree against evictions, which legitimizes the illegal occupation.

Meeting with the mayor

The mayor of Pozuelo de Alarcón, Susana Pérez Quislant, yesterday showed her support for the neighbors affected by the squatting and indicated that "the Municipal Police have orders to attend and protect the neighbors affected by this squatting."

The councilor, who shares "the logical concern of the affected neighbors," declared that

has been working "tirelessly since Saturday to get the owner of the house to file the corresponding complaint,

something that has not yet occurred. ”Likewise, the mayor explained that the Municipal Police have already transferred all the actions that have been carried out to the National Police, but it is essential that the owners file the corresponding complaint in court.

Finally, Pérez Quislant highlighted "the exemplary nature that the residents of Pozuelo de Alarcón show in any circumstance" and, therefore, asked the affected residents "calm down, because the City Council is by their side."

«

We are not going to stop working until we can solve this situation that has been created

"He added. Today the councilor will meet with the affected residents to convey all the information on the case that the City Council has collected in recent days and explain the actions undertaken.

Pozuelo is the richest municipality of more than 20,000 inhabitants in Madrid and in all of Spain,

with an average annual net income per inhabitant of 25,903 euros, according to data from the INE.
