Flensburg (dpa / lno) - The ailing Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) had the first keel laying in a long time on Wednesday.
The 210 meter long RoRo ferry is scheduled to be completed in April 2022.
It was ordered by IVP Ship Invest, a Lars Windhorst company.
According to the shipyard, IVP Ship Invest has also placed an option for a second ship.
The order including the option has a total volume of 140 million euros.
"Keel laying is always an important milestone in shipbuilding," said Maracke.
This keel laying has a very special meaning for the FSG: "It is the first keel laying after the economically difficult, challenging and shipyard-changing phase."
The new FSG was launched at the beginning of September under the direction of Windhorsts Tennor Holding - with empty order books. For the old FSG, insolvency proceedings were opened at the Flensburg District Court on August 1st.
