In order to reduce the financial burden of infertility treatment, the subsidy system will be expanded from January 1, the income restrictions will be lifted, and the subsidy amount per treatment will be raised to 300,000 yen.

Of the infertility treatments, the subsidy system for "in vitro fertilization", which is not covered by public insurance, will be expanded for treatments completed on or after the first day.

Specifically, the income limit, which used to limit the combined income of married couples to less than 7.3 million yen, will be lifted, and common-law marriage will also be newly covered.

In addition, the amount of subsidy, which was 300,000 yen for the first treatment and 150,000 yen for each treatment after that, will be raised to 300,000 yen for the second and subsequent treatments.

Furthermore, the limit on the number of times, which is currently limited to 6 times, will be relaxed to "up to 6 times per child".

On the other hand, the government has a policy of expanding insurance coverage for infertility treatment, aiming to implement it from the 4th year of Reiwa, and will proceed with consideration of what kind of treatment is targeted.
