In Ethiopia, fighting continues in Tigray province, almost two months after the outbreak of hostilities.

The Ethiopian government ensures that the situation is normalizing in the region, but Tigray is still almost inaccessible.

Rare humanitarian convoys were able to bring food but access is still restricted and telecommunications cut.

The Tigrayan forces also continue the fight, from the rural areas.

If the Ethiopian army has the stranglehold on the main cities of Tigray, doubts persist about the countryside of the province.

In the hinterland, it is still difficult to determine which areas are under government control and which are in the hands of the TPLF, the Tigrayan dissident party at war with Addis Ababa.

Humanitarian sources report fighting, especially near the town of Shire.

The UN talks about clashes east of the provincial capital Mekele.

Information confirmed by residents, who also confided that the north of the city is still in the grip of fighting.

Finally, a member of the Ethiopian government concedes that Tigrayan militiamen are still active, without giving an estimate either on their number or on their strike force.

The federal government has established a provisional administration in Tigray, which claims that basic services have resumed.

Despite the announcements, it is still impossible to withdraw money, and the internet is still cut in Mekele.

Doubt also persists over the situation in the north of the province, where the Eritrean army would be deployed according to the United States.

The World Food Program has been able to provide assistance to 25,000 Eritrean refugees.

That's only a quarter of the total number of refugees ...

The situation is increasingly critical on

the Ethiopian-Sudanese border

.

The Sudanese army has said it expects an imminent attack from Ethiopian forces.
