For the moment, there is not yet a formal agreement between the different parties, but the legislative elections have all the same been set for next March.
For the Ivorian government, the mission is accomplished.
The opening of a
space for discussion
with the opposition parties and civil society organizations made it possible to put on the table the various grievances of the opponents, but above all to obtain progress on the holding of legislative elections.
On this last point, Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko believes that the dialogue has led to a broad consensus.
"
The legislative elections which we have just decided to hold in March 2021 will allow our compatriots to freely choose their representatives within the next National Assembly
," he declared.
Our common responsibility is to persevere in this direction, to work together to consolidate the achievements of this political dialogue
”.
No opposition signature yet
However, the opposition specifies that it has not yet affixed its signature to this report.
She prefers to reserve it until certain points have not been clarified, in particular the release of its political figures, arrested in the days following the presidential election of October 31, as well as the reform of the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) and the revision of the division of the electoral map.
"
We refused the term of agreement and the term of disagreement,"
said Niamkey Koffi, acting chief executive secretary of the Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire (PDCI).
There have been divergences and convergences.
As dialogue is an ongoing dialogue, the process remains open
”.
In the report's proposals and recommendations, the opposition also calls for the resumption of direct dialogue between President Alassane Ouattara and his main adversary Henri Konan Bédié, adding his predecessor, Laurent Gbagbo.
