The number of proven new corona infections in Hamburg rose by 470 on Wednesday.

That is eight new infections more than the day before, but 92 fewer than a week ago.

According to the health authorities, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days fell from 139.0 to 134.1 compared to the previous day.

On Wednesday a week ago, this so-called incidence value was 174.3.

The number of deaths in the corona statistics of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for Hamburg rose by 16 to 614. That is 53 deaths more than a week ago.

According to the authorities, a total of 36,421 people have been proven to have been infected with the coronavirus since the outbreak of the pandemic in Hamburg, of which, according to RKI estimates, 26,200 can be considered recovered.

According to the health authorities, 544 corona patients were treated in Hamburg's hospitals as of Tuesday - nine fewer than the day before, but 20 more than a week ago.

108 corona patients were treated in intensive care units, two fewer than on Monday, but eight more than a week ago.

The RKI (as of Tuesday morning) put the number of those vaccinated in the meantime at 1071, but nothing is going on in the exhibition halls where the city's vaccination center was built.

At the moment, vaccinations are only being given in the care facilities because insufficient vaccination doses have been delivered.

The health authority had already pointed out the dramatic development in the nursing homes on Tuesday.

According to the health authorities, 613 residents are currently infected in a total of 50 care facilities.

There are ten or more cases in 20 care facilities.

In addition, 286 care facility employees across the city are currently infected with Corona.

As a countermeasure, a mandatory test for visitors has now been introduced.

Since Tuesday, visitors have had to prove that they are not infected with Sars-CoV-2.

As long as not all facilities are able to offer tests for visitors, the city intends to set up central test locations temporarily.

However, the first point of contact should remain the care facility.
