2019 - China reports mysterious cases of illness to the World Health Organization (WHO): A lung disease has broken out in the central Chinese metropolis of Wuhan.

It later became known that the disease was caused by a novel coronavirus.

2015 - On New Year's Eve there are hundreds of attacks on women in front of Cologne Central Station, including theft, robbery and sexual offenses.

Many of the accused are refugees or live illegally in Germany.

The acts fuel the debate on how to deal with refugees who have committed criminal offenses.

2005 - The popular folk music presenter Karl Moik says goodbye to his television audience after 25 years on New Year's Eve with the “Silvesterstadl” from Klagenfurt am Wörthersee.
