Like other elected officials of the Grand Est region, Valérie Beausert-Leick, president of the departmental council of Meurthe-et-Moselle, called for local reconfinement.

She regrets that the Minister of Health Olivier Véran favors only a tightening of the curfew.

No re-containment, but a tough curfew.

This is the option favored by the government, while the coronavirus epidemic is soaring in several French regions.

In these territories, a curfew from 6 p.m. could be applied from January 2, announced the missile of Health Olivier Véran Tuesday evening.

About twenty departments could be concerned, especially in the Grand Est, where local elected officials have been demanding for several days a reconfinement.

For Valérie Beausert-Leick, president of the departmental council of Meurthe-et-Moselle, joined Wednesday by Europe 1, the solution chosen by the executive is largely insufficient.

Valérie Beausert-Leick regrets that the government does not have the courage to sacrifice New Year's Eve in the regions concerned.

"We will wait until January 2, when the holidays are over, while it is the holidays that will mainly explain the rise of the pandemic", she recalls.

"It is true that to ask for a reconfinement, it is never easy. But here it is, it is to show responsibility also to propose measures which are not necessarily popular."

And the elected representative repeated the request of many of her colleagues: "I would have liked a faster containment, localized in our Grand Est region and in the affected regions, which allows us to say: 'Here we are, for 15 days, we stop moving and cut the chain of contamination '. "
