Berlin (dpa / bb) - The Higher Administrative Court (OVG) Berlin-Brandenburg has received a complaint against the administrative court's decision to ban demonstrations on New Year's Eve in Berlin.

An OVG spokeswoman said on Wednesday for the German press agency.

A decision is expected to be made later this day.

The administrative court announced on Wednesday that the ban on gatherings in Berlin for New Year's Eve and New Year's Eve was not legally objectionable.

The first chamber of the court, which is responsible for the law of assembly, rejected an urgent application against the ban on demonstrations applicable under the Senate's Infection Protection Ordinance (Ref .: VG 1 L 458/20).

Against the background of the corona pandemic, the Senate has banned New Year's and New Year's meetings in Section 26 of its current ordinance.

On the other hand, an urgent application was initially received by the administrative court.

The applicant himself had scheduled a meeting for New Year's Eve.
