Wolfsburg (dpa) - The second model in the new series of electric cars from VW is set to go on sale in the first week of the new year.
The sales of the compact SUV ID.4 are planned in Germany and several European countries from the beginning of January, said works council chief Bernd Osterloh of the German press agency.
The company had set a deadline “by the end of the year” for the car that will continue the fully electric ID series after the ID.3, which started in September.

"In the first quarter, the ID.4 will gradually reach our retailers and also the first customers, in this country and in other important EU markets."
VW core brand boss Ralf Brandstätter had announced that the ID.4 should be on the road with full functionality right from the start.
He also promised “sufficient range and fast charging”.
With the predecessor ID.3, customers first had to reload a few software updates.
The model family is being expanded with the larger ID.5 and the ID.Buzz electric bus, among other things.
A small car in the Polo segment could also follow later.
