It's time to take stock for the socialist government of Pedro Sanchez, the first executive since the end of Francoism, which is a real left-wing coalition government.

A coalition in which the socialist party and the radical left of Podemos go hand in hand.

This government has been in power for a year.

Out of 1238 measures announced in the program, 23.4% would have been fulfilled, and 90% of the others would be “on the way”.

A more than honorable record in the very difficult context

of the coronavirus pandemic

.

This is in essence the message conveyed by the head of the socialist government Pedro Sanchez, who insisted that we have to go back several decades to see a real leftist politics.

An alliance between the socialists and the

radical left formation Podemos

, in agreement on most subjects, such as the creation of a minimum income for integration, but which also differs on certain other, more delicate subjects.

Thus, Pedro Sanchez announced a reform of the monarchy, to modernize it and make it "

a monarchy of the 21st century

 ".

However, Podemos is in favor of its abolition.

There is also no agreement on pensions, because Brussels has demanded budgetary rigor.

There is no more agreement on the minimum wage, whose increase of fifty euros will depend on the green light, or not, of the entrepreneurs.

For his part, the leader of the right-wing opposition, Pablo Casado, fired red bullets on the socialist leader by speaking of “

the government of lies, incompetence and arrogance

”.

Words that reflect the dialogue of the deaf between the left in power and the right in the opposition, two forces which since the start of the pandemic have been unable to find any common ground or reach the slightest consensus.
