Dresden (dpa / sn) - Saxony is tightening the corona rules when entering from foreign risk areas.

From January 11, domestic quarantine is not only mandatory, but also the submission of a negative test result to the health department, said Health Minister Petra Köpping (SPD) on Tuesday in Dresden.

The test must not be more than 24 hours ago upon arrival.

However, it can also be completed on arrival or made up for up to 48 hours afterwards.

The costs are to be borne by the travelers themselves.

Cross-border commuters must be tested regularly at their own expense, at least twice a week.

Köpping appeared after a consultation with the city and community day two hours late for the online press conference. There could be no talk of relaxation, the number of infections and the number of deaths were far too high, she said. It takes a few days to know whether the measures taken have had an effect. The minister assumed, however, that the restrictions on January 10th could not be relaxed.
