Oberstdorf (dpa) - National coach Stefan Horngacher has relativized the clear criticism of ski jumper Markus Eisenbichler of the organization of the qualification for the opening jump of the Four Hills Tournament.

"He was pretty emotional after his jump," said the 51-year-old in a video distributed by the German Ski Association in front of a snowy mountain backdrop in the Allgäu on Tuesday.

«He had to wait a long time up there, the wind wasn't good, of course it was cold at some point and I think the jump wasn't as he had imagined.

And then, I think, he overshot a bit. "

After his 25th place in the qualifying round, which was turbulent due to difficult weather conditions, Eisenbichler said among other things: "That was kind of a children's birthday party."

The 29-year-old had complained: "You had to wait forever at the lift."

Horngacher now explained: “In principle, you have to say that everything is very, very well organized here.

Everything is going fine.

Of course there are always things that can be improved, but you have to jump a day first to see what can be improved.

I think the OK will rework accordingly where there is still work. "

He spoke to Eisenbichler again.

"He apologized to us for his somewhat exuberant reaction and I think everything is fine again."
