Hanover (dpa / lni) - In Lower Saxony, 80 new corona deaths were reported within one day.
This is the highest value since the beginning of the pandemic, as shown by the figures from the State Health Office in Hanover on Tuesday (as of 9:00 a.m.).
In addition, 837 new infections were registered within 24 hours.
The so-called seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants was 93.7 - that is a decrease compared to the previous day.
According to the Ministry of Health, however, the figures are only partially meaningful, as fewer tests are carried out on weekends and holidays.
Deaths from the Christmas days may have been reported later.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,884 people across the country have died with or from the novel virus.
Of the total of 104,262 previously infected in Lower Saxony, 80 percent are considered recovered.
