Düsseldorf / Potsdam (dpa / bb) - From the point of view of Brandenburg's Education Minister Britta Ernst, it is difficult to assess how far students have fallen behind due to the corona pandemic.

"But all countries have made plans to make up for the missed classes," said the SPD politician, who will take over the presidency of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) on January 14, the "Handelsblatt" (online edition).

“In Brandenburg, for example, according to our survey in schools, not so much of the subject matter was not taught, we can catch up with that in normal lessons.

Extra lessons on Saturday, for example, are only necessary in individual cases, ”said Ernst.

From their point of view, however, there is still some catching up to do with the digitization of schools.

Last but not least, funds are to be used for this, which the federal government made available for the digital pact in mid-2019, but of which only a small part was called.

"Of course we had a regrettable traffic jam due to the pandemic, because municipalities and schools were concerned with the pandemic management," said Ernst.

“But now there is a crazy race to catch up.

In Brandenburg we will be almost back on schedule by the end of the year. "

The first progress can already be seen for Ernst: “Here in Brandenburg we have now provided all teachers with e-mail addresses, in the next school year we want to do the same for the students.

But of course I would have wished that earlier than 2020. "
