After the battle to obtain the receipt of legal existence, the Beninese opposition, and especially the Democrats party of former head of state Boni Yayi, open the controversy on the conditions of the organization of the election presidential election of April 11, 2021. They demand the audit of the electoral roll and the immediate application of the decisions rendered by the African Court of Human Rights, which asks the government to cancel several political reforms.

It is in this climate that the Beninese President, Patrice Talon, delivers his speech on the State of the Nation this Tuesday, December 29 in Porto Novo.

It was just after the official recognition of his party that the former president, Thomas Boni Yayi, opened hostilities by demanding in front of his activists from

the Democrats party

an “

inclusive, peaceful and transparent

 ”

presidential election

.

On Sunday, Eric Houndete, one of his lieutenants, reads a statement to the press.

And we discover that the transparency, of which Boni Yayi spoke, in fact concerned the electoral list for the

presidential election of 2021

 : an “

unreliable

 ”

electoral list

which deserves an “

independent audit

 ”, according to him.

Eric Houndete justifies his request by the fact that the body which controls the list does not have any member of the opposition.

It's a joke,

" replies the chairman of the Majority Law Commission, Orden Alladatin.

He recalls that the computerized permanent electoral list (Lépi) was set up by Boni Yayi for ten years.

We did not touch it

 ", he defends himself.

This Tuesday, December 29, the Electoral Commission will present the electoral register to the institutions involved in the organization of the vote.

The opposition made other demands, such as the return of exiles and the holding of national assizes.

This Tuesday, Patrice Talon addresses the Nation from Parliament in Porto Novo.

It is a tradition, and no one knows if he will respond to the opposition on this occasion.
