The American Ryan Cochran-Siegle, exceptional on the legendary "Stelvio" of Bormio (Italy), pushed the competition far away to win the first victory of his career over the super-G played on Tuesday.

At 28 years old, Ryan Cochran-Siegle is progressing: after having signed his best result in super-G (8th) then his first career podium two weeks ago in Val Gardena (2nd in the descent), he achieved a real demonstration on Tuesday in Bormio.

It was the first victory for an American in a World Cup super-G in 14 years and a success for legend Bode Miller in Hinterstoder (Austria).

Under a gray sky and on an icy and demanding track, as usual, Ryan Cochran-Siegle took all the risks and managed to give a real slap to the great specialists of the discipline: only two skiers lost less than a second on its reference time (1 min 29 sec 43).

In this race postponed from Monday to Tuesday due to bad weather conditions, the Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr (29), 2nd at 79 / 100th, signed his 16th podium in the World Cup.

Another fit skier, the Norwegian Adrian Smiseth Sejersted (26) and his ultra-risky ski finished 3rd at 94 / 100th, enough to climb on his second career podium three weeks after the super-G in Val d'Isère ( 2nd).

- Pinturault: "I limited the breakage" -

Holding the title of the big globe, his compatriot Aleksander Aamodt Kilde took 4th place at 1 sec 18. He remains second in the general classification behind Alexis Pinturault.

The Frenchman, rather technical, aligns himself with some super-Gs this winter and managed to finish 12th Tuesday at 1 sec 78, by starting with the number 1, enough to score 22 points and to keep 37 units of advance on Kilde.

"I limited the breakage, but we made a very poor choice of bib which surely cost me a lot of speed (he had the choice between the 1, the 17 and the 19)", he estimated .

"In terms of speed I am almost where I hoped after two races (7th in Val d'Isère three weeks ago), but I hope to be even better for the future, especially at Kitzbühel in January".

Five other French people scored points: Blaise Giezendanner is 14th, Nils Allègre 19th, Brice Roger 22nd, Roy Piccard 24th and Johan Clarey 29th.

The Swiss Mauro Caviezel, holder of the small globe of the super-G, left the podium for the first time this winter in the discipline: he finished 5th at 1 sec 36 / 100th.

Skiers return to the Stelvio de Bormio slope on Wednesday for a descent.
