Hanover / Bremen (dpa / lni) - In Lower Saxony, 835 people were vaccinated with the first dose of the corona vaccine up to and including Monday.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported on Tuesday.

For Bremen, the RKI showed 592 vaccinations.

With the previous vaccinations, the two countries are in the lower third in comparison.

Only for Brandenburg (107), Thuringia (257), Saxony (857) and Saarland (862) was the value below 1000.

Nationwide, 41,962 people received the first dose against the coronavirus.

The increase compared to the previous day was therefore 19 084 vaccinations.

However, this is not the number of people actually vaccinated on a day, but can also include late registrations, as the RKI writes.

The data suggested that in the first few days - in accordance with the recommendations of the Standing Vaccination Commission - mobile vaccination teams in particular vaccinated in old people's homes, explains RKI spokeswoman Susanne Glasmacher with a view to the rather low number of vaccinations nationwide.

The RKI does not initially name a vaccination quota, i.e. the proportion of those vaccinated in the total population.

The number of people vaccinated is currently too low for this, said Glasmacher.

Vaccinations with the first vaccination dose are currently recorded.

A second vaccination is due approximately three weeks after the first in order to achieve full vaccination protection.

It can therefore not be assumed that all vaccinated persons are already safely protected against Covid-19.
