Winterberg (dpa / lnw) - The town of Winterberg in the Sauerland has appealed to day-trippers not to go into town on Tuesday.

"The traffic situation is already extremely acute again," wrote the city on its website.

"Even today we can only ask everyone who is on their way or is already on the way to us to refrain from traveling."

All parking capacities are exhausted, the streets are congested.

The toboggan and ski lifts are closed.

"Tobogganing on the lifts is not allowed, even if many people do."

Huts and toilets are closed.

"There are no places to stop or warm up."

The info text concluded with the words: "Don't stress yourself!"

Numerous day-trippers had already caused traffic chaos in the city on Sunday.

The city estimated the length of traffic jams around Winterberg, according to a spokeswoman on Sunday, at 45 kilometers.
