Yannick Bestaven (Maître Coq IV) further widened the gap at the top of the Vendée Globe by pushing his first pursuer Charlie Dalin (Apivia) to more than 150 miles, according to the classification published Monday at 18:00 (17:00 GMT).
At the helm of the race for twelve days, Bestaven, who turns 48 this Monday, increases his lead to 153.4 miles over Dalin.
Its dolphin is indeed slowed down in the center of the depression that has formed around the famous point Nemo, the place on the globe furthest from the land.
Behind the leading duo, Thomas Rettant (LinkedOut), is sailing 278.2 miles behind the leader.
Approaching Cape Horn, the southern tip of the American continent, the compact fleet is now sailing in cold and sustained winds, more usual in the southern seas.
