Three French soldiers were killed in operation in Mali, Monday, December 28, after their armored vehicle was hit by an explosive device in the Hombori region, announced the Elysee.

Florence Parly, Minister of the Armed Forces, paid tribute to the three soldiers

They were on a mission in Mali.

For France, for the Sahel, against terrorism.

Brigadier-Chief Tanerii Mauri, Fighters 1st Class Dorian Issakhanian and Quentin Pauchet died for France.

"The President of the Republic learned with great emotion of the death in Mali this morning of three French soldiers of the 1st regiment of hunters of Thierville-sur-Meuse", one can read in a press release.

They are Brigadier-Chief Tanerii Mauri, Fighter 1st Class Quentin Pauchet and Fighter 1st Class Dorian Issakhanian.

"Their armored vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device, while they were participating in an operation in the Hombori region," adds the Elysee. 

"The President of the Republic salutes with the greatest respect the memory of these soldiers, who died for France in the accomplishment of their mission. He associates himself with the pain of their families, their relatives and their brothers of arms and assures them of the recognition and solidarity of the Nation. "

The deaths of these three soldiers bring to 47 the number of French soldiers killed in Operation Serval, then Barkhane.
