From the daytime on December 27, the strongest cold wave since this winter began to affect our country.

The Central Meteorological Observatory issued an orange warning for the first cold wave since the beginning of winter this year at 6 o'clock on the 28th.

At the same time, the China Meteorological Administration has launched a three-level emergency response to major meteorological disasters (cold waves) at 9 o'clock on the 27th.

After the cold wave orange warning was issued in 2016, the Central Meteorological Observatory issued another cold wave orange warning in 4 years.

How ferocious is the cold wave comparable to the "Overlord"?

"Overlord" real hammer!

Guangdong's temperature plunged into winter successfully

First, let’s draw a wave of key points-the cold wave weather has a wide range of influence, severe cooling, low temperature, and long duration of strong winds. Most areas will experience the coldest weather since the beginning of winter.

According to the Central Meteorological Observatory, it is expected that from 28 to 31, the temperature in most of the central and eastern regions will drop by about 10°C, in the eastern part of the northwestern region, the southeastern part of the northeastern region, the western and northern parts of North China, the southern part of Huanghuai, Jianghuai, Jiangnan, and the central and northern parts of South China. The ground temperature drops by 12 to 16℃, and the local temperature drops above 16℃. There will be northerly winds of magnitude 4 to 6 and gusts of magnitude 7 to 9 in the above areas. After the temperature drop, the 0℃ line of the lowest temperature will be pressed south to the northern part of South China. , The lowest temperature -10℃ line is from the lower reaches of the Yellow River to the Qinling Mountains.

Speaking of the cold wave, what everyone was impressed by was the "Overlord" cold wave in late January 2016.

However, compared with the upcoming cold wave this year, the absolute temperature during the cold wave in late January 2016 was lower.

"This cold wave has a faster cooling rate, and some areas are cooling off cliffs." Hu Xiao, chief meteorological analyst of China Weather Network analyzed.

For example, in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the general temperature drop was around 15°C within 48 hours of the cold wave, which was more intense than the cold wave in January 2016, and the cold felt by the public was even more obvious.

From this perspective, this year's "New Year's Eve" cold wave will be as cold as the "Overlord" cold wave in late January 2016.

Moreover, compared with the "Double Twelve" cold wave two weeks ago, the cold wave at the end of the year surpassed the previous one in terms of both the scope of impact and the sharp drop in temperature.

Data map: From 19:00 on December 13 to 6:00 on 14th, the first snow of this winter fell in Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Yangzhou, Taizhou, Nantong, Changzhou, Wuxi, Suzhou and other places in Jiangsu.

Which areas will be affected?

Knowing yourself and the enemy can survive all battles. To prepare for the cold wave in advance, you must know its planned route and timetable.

Overall, the cooling process is mainly completed within two days——

  The cooling period in most parts of the north is from 28th to 29th;

The cooling period in most parts of the south is from the 29th to the 30th.

On December 28, the cold wave weather mainly affected the eastern part of Northwest China, central and western Inner Mongolia, northern and western North China; starting on the 29th, the cold wave moved eastward and moved south and affected most of the central and eastern parts, including the Northeast, Huanghuai, North China Plain, Jianghuai, Jianghan, the eastern part of the southwestern region, and the southern part of the Yangtze River; on the 30th, it will cross the Nanling Mountains, and the entire southern China region will begin to cool.

Specifically, the minimum temperature in Inner Mongolia and Northeast China will be as low as -20℃. The Beijing Meteorological Observatory also issued a cold wave blue warning. It is expected that the minimum temperature will drop by more than 8℃ from the 28th to the 30th; even the cold air will continue. Under the influence of this cold wave, the average temperature of Guangdong, which is shielded, will drop to 8℃~10℃, and the lowest temperature in the urban area of Guangzhou will drop to about 4℃.

At the same time, it is particularly important to note that the "New Year's Eve" cold wave will also have a higher wind when it cools down, and the wind chill effect is superimposed on it.

For example, in Nanjing, on the 29th, under the influence of rain and snow, there will be north winds of magnitude 5-6, and the body temperature will be 3-4°C lower than the predicted temperature.

Reappearance of large-scale rain, snow and freezing weather similar to 2008?

In the past, “private goods” were often entrained when cold air came, and there were a lot of wind, rain and snow.

The large-scale rain and snow in 2008 is even more refreshing. So, will this "overlord" cold wave make history repeat itself?

Zhang Tao, chief forecaster of the Central Meteorological Observatory, said that the cold wave was strong and moved southward at a fast speed. The warm and humid airflow was quickly compressed into the South China Sea, and my country's land was basically controlled by cold air.

"The southeastern part of Northwest China, Jianghan, Huanghuai, Jianghuai and other places will become the'snow center' of this cold wave process. There will generally be light to moderate snow, heavy snow in some areas, and blizzards in some high-altitude areas." Hu Xiao explained, however, the precipitation time is not long and basically ends within 24 hours.

Because the cold air is moving faster this time, the snowfall process does not last long, but the snow will fall more quickly.

For example, the snowfall time in Jinan is about from the night of the 28th to the morning of the 29th, Zhengzhou is from the night of the 28th to the morning of the 29th, Hefei turns to snow from the afternoon of the 29th to the night of the 29th, and Wuhan can see snow from the afternoon to the night of the 29th. In addition, Shanghai also has a chance to turn snow on the evening of the 29th.

In terms of freezing rain, some areas of western Guizhou and eastern Yunnan may also experience some freezing rain, but the range is small and the intensity is not particularly strong, and the duration is short.

Therefore, in this process, the rain and snow lasted for a short time, and the scope of the freezing rain was small and the intensity was weak. The similar situation in 2008 will not occur.

"This year is a year with relatively early cold and more cold waves in recent years." Zhang Tao introduced that there have been two cold waves since the beginning of winter, and some areas have experienced the coldest weather in the same period in the past 10 years.

Generally, cold wave weather is easy to appear in the first winter and early spring, but there will not be too much cold wave in the middle of winter, but it does not rule out the possibility of cold wave weather next year.
