Gelsenkirchen (AP) - The new coach Christian Gross has started his rescue mission at the Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04, which is threatened with relegation.
During the first training session on Monday morning, the 66-year-old Swiss also welcomed top performers Mark Uth and Frederik Rönnow.
The 29-year-old striker Uth was last absent due to a concussion, goalkeeper Rönnow had missed the last games before Christmas due to adductor problems.
Central defender Salif Sané (knee problems) was only able to watch the first session under the coach, who started his work with a blue cap and a friendly “good morning”, while Omar Mascarell trained individually.
The bottom of the table presented Gross on Sunday as the fourth coach of the current season after David Wagner, Manuel Baum and short-term helper Huub Stevens.
