Munich (dpa) - Due to the corona restrictions in Germany and its neighboring countries, according to ADAC forecast, the usual traffic jams will be canceled at the turn of the year.

For the New Year's weekend and the first days of January up to Epiphany on January 6, the car club predicted low traffic on Monday.

The reason is that there will be hardly any holiday traffic due to the closure of hotels, other holiday accommodation and ski areas.

"Although the freeways are not completely empty, the reduced volume of traffic will not be intense enough to create longer traffic jams," wrote the ADAC in a press release. In addition to commuters and occasional day trippers, the transport experts increasingly expect truck drivers to maintain the supply of goods. The streets were already comparatively empty on Christmas weekend.
