Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, a little more than 1500 men and women received a first dose at the start of the corona vaccinations until Sunday evening.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health said on Monday afternoon.

The aim is to actually administer the first vaccine delivery in full by the end of the year.

This means that around 8,200 more men and women would have to be vaccinated by Thursday evening.

Mobile teams are still on the move in nursing homes, the vaccine is also administered in clinics, it said.

On Monday, among other things, the Saalekreis started vaccinating particularly vulnerable people.

In Germany, vaccinations against the corona virus have officially been taking place since Sunday.

In Saxony-Anhalt, however, it started a day earlier, including on Saturday in a nursing home in Halberstadt.

The early start caused, among other things, Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) for irritation.

Before the first round, Saxony-Anhalt had distributed 9,750 vaccine doses to the districts and independent cities.

An equally large delivery should arrive on Monday and be temporarily stored by the country.

The background is that not all districts have the necessary freezers to store the material, said the ministry spokeswoman.

The new delivery ensures that everyone who has now received the first dose can also receive the required second syringe in a few weeks.

Already on Wednesday there should be more supplies: almost 20,000 vaccine doses.
