He noted that "the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection has significantly weakened the global economy."

“According to experts, in 2020-2021, a decrease in the global gross domestic product by 4-5 percent is possible compared to the level of 2019.

Unfortunately, among the most affected countries were Russia's main partners in the field of military-technical cooperation (hereinafter - MTC) - Algeria, Egypt, India, China and others, ”Fomin said.

The deputy minister said that "the decline in the pace of development of the world economy entailed a reduction in world military spending and the volume of purchases of new weapons."

“It is expected that in the next two years, global military spending will be reduced by 8%, world exports of military products (MPP) - by 4%.

According to experts, the return of the world arms market to pre-crisis growth rates can be expected only by 2023, ”he said.

According to him, “at the present time, with a number of foreign customers, the delivery dates for military equipment have been postponed.

“This is caused, among other things, by the impossibility of accepting foreign specialists for pre-shipment inspections in Russia and sending Russian representatives to hand over and service products in the customers' territories,” Fomin added.

In August, the general director of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, said that Russian specialists had returned to a number of countries to transfer military equipment and weapons to foreign customers.
