Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) has shown himself satisfied with compliance with the corona rules over the Christmas days.

"Overall, the holidays in the Free State were very quiet," said Herrmann on Sunday.

"In particular, the curfew after 9 p.m. in Bavaria" was "largely observed".

The police have "consistently punished" violations such as not wearing mouth and nose protection or exceeding the permitted number of people during controls and operations.

According to the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior, the most frequent violations were the exit restrictions: The Ministry registered 2264 reports from December 16 to 23.

The charges were directed against people who were on the street after 9 p.m.

After this time, people in the Free State are currently no longer allowed to leave the house, except in justified individual cases such as emergencies or to go for a walk with the dog.

A police spokesman had previously announced increased controls on the exit restrictions.

There were several violations at once in Straubing on the night of Boxing Day: At a forbidden Christmas party at night, a 15-year-old stole the car keys of someone celebrating and went on a joyride with a companion, during which she damaged the vehicle.

In addition to reports of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving without a driver's license and fleeing traffic accidents, she and her co-driver were also reported for violating the exit restrictions under the Bavarian Infection Protection Ordinance.

In addition, the police are currently checking reports against the other participants in the celebration.
