- We are mainly looking for weapons and drugs, but we also find a lot of other things.

A lot of tobacco and alcohol, says Mika who works as a customs inspector.

Furniture and dog food

There is full activity on parcel handling at Postnord.

Out on the package handling Toftanäs, the five-year-old customs dog Boeing sniffs around among large and small packages.

The smugglers are resourceful in their attempts to deceive the customs.

But neither the plastic-sealed packaging, tucked into furniture nor drugs in the dog food deceives the four-legged detective.

- The time is only 11.00 and we have only been here at Toftanäs for a few hours and have already found 1,500 drug-classified tablets, 15 illegal knives and some baton.

Our colleagues at the other post terminal have made similar seizures, says Mika.

In just a few hours, the dog search found 1,500 drug-classified tablets, 15 illegal knives and a stiletto baton.

Top listing of shipments

Since mid-November, Postnord has recorded a record in sent items.

The buy-rush weekends have replaced each other, but it is not the customs dog Boeing cares about, he is looking further.

- We are in the middle of our peak period and it will continue until mid-January.

I have worked in this company for 25 years and have never seen such large volumes.

We break record after record, whether it is a letter or a package.

It is incredible to be a part of this, says Åsa Holmgren, terminal manager at Postnord Toftanäs.

Drugs inside furniture

Over the years, smugglers have tried to stay one step ahead of customs with various inventive ways of smuggling, but no one is fooling Boeing.

- The trend right now is that people are trying to hide drugs in furniture or kitchen machines of various kinds, says Mika, customs inspector at the Swedish Customs, who does not want us to state her last name.

When Boeing has sniffed around among the vans on the loading dock, there will be one or two packages that must be lifted to the side for new control.
