The infection of 11 famous people in the artistic community in Egypt, with the Corona virus, during the past 72 hours, has raised concern, especially with the drama makers busy with the work of the month of Ramadan, amid union decisions to intensify precautionary measures.

According to local media, actresses Yusra, Salwa Muhammad Ali and Jumana Murad, actors and producers Amir Karara, Karim Fahmy, Sherif Ramzi, Hisham Jamal and Jamal al-Adl, directors Inas al-Deghidi and Hala Khalil, and scriptwriter Mohsen al-Jallad were injured during those hours.

The same sources, including the private "Al-Youm Al-Sabea" newspaper, stated that they were subject to isolation and are in stable health.

 Consecutive injuries

And those injuries were the most reported in a row, in a few days, in the technical community, since the outbreak of the epidemic in the country in February.

Cases of HIV infection have appeared in the artistic community at separate intervals during the past months, and the most prominent of them are: Raja Al-Jeddawi, Nashwa Mustafa, Basma, Iman Al-Assi, and Muhammad Al-Sharnoubi.

Al-Jeddawi was the first Egyptian star to die last July, as a result of contracting the virus at the end of May.

Anxiety and fuss

These successive injuries caused concern and uproar in the middle, especially with the filming of the Ramadan drama.

The private newspaper "Al-Dustour" said that the work of the stars in the upcoming Ramadan series is experiencing great concern, and is threatened by the spread of the Corona virus.

The newspaper pointed out that a large number of those who were declared injured are participating in dramatic works shown next Ramadan, which disrupts the filming of those works.

According to the private "Al-Watan" newspaper, the director, Mohamed Sami, decided to postpone filming the scenes of actor Karara in his new series "The Offspring of the Strangers" after he was infected with the virus until he recovered.

The newspaper quoted producer Muhammad Mukhtar as confirming that preparations for the second part of "Mission in Tel Aviv" (the first was in 1992) have stopped due to the repercussions of the virus, and the return of some countries to partial closure again, as some events require travel to several countries.

Union claims

And Saturday, a statement was issued by the Syndicate of Representative Professions in Egypt, calling on production companies to take all strict precautionary and preventive measures in light of the exceptional circumstances that the country and the world are going through, due to the intensification of the Coronavirus pandemic.

In phone statements to a private Egyptian satellite channel on Saturday evening, Ashraf Zaki, the head of the acting professions, explained that the second wave of Corona is strong and violent.

Zaki denied that the artists were infected with the virus as a result of filming serials, stressing that it was the result of the stars' social life.

He pointed out that he had contacted the injured, all of whom were in stable condition, expecting their recovery soon.

In press statements, the artist, Ihab Fahmy, the representative of the Syndicate of Representative Professions, said that they require artistic production companies to follow the instructions necessary to confront the virus, and the union has no authority to prevent production companies from stopping their work if the number of infections increases, while the decision to stop filming follows the decisions of the Egyptian state.

Corona's injuries did not stop on the people of art during those past hours, and extended to 4 media professionals: Wael Al-Ibrashi, Dina Abdel Karim, Saif Zahir, Karim Hassan Shehata.

Last Friday, the head of the National Elections Authority, Judge Lashin Ibrahim, died as a result of his infection with the virus, and the day before that, Counselor Ahmed Al-Bakri, Chairman of the Temporary Committee for the Management of Zamalek Club, left, on Thursday, of the epidemic.

Currently, Egypt is witnessing the second wave of the virus, and in recent days there has been an increase in the frequency of daily infections.

And on Saturday, it announced the registration of 1189 new cases of the virus, in a surge in the number of infections since the curve escalated in the second wave of the outbreak of the pandemic.

The country recorded a total of 131,315 cases of the virus, including 7 thousand and 352 deaths, in addition to 109 thousand and 462 cases of recovery.
