Dresden (dpa / sn) - A few days before the turn of the year, the regulations for private New Year's Eve fireworks in the corona pandemic are inconsistently regulated in Saxony's cities.

For example, Dresden wants to publish a general decree on Monday, according to its own statements, with which a “firecrackers ban” is imposed for the entire city area.

As a result, on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, the carrying and burning of pyrotechnics of any kind is prohibited.

The current Saxon Corona Protection Ordinance only prohibits the sale of fireworks.

It is only "strongly advised against" setting off fireworks that are already there.

The responsible municipal authorities could, however, order a ban on the burning of fireworks for much-visited public places.

For example, on New Year's Eve from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on New Year's Eve, it is forbidden to burn pyrotechnics on four streets and the old town bridge in Görlitz.

Lord Mayor Octavian Ursu (CDU) had issued a police ordinance at the beginning of December.

There are threats of fines.

According to a spokesman, no firefighting zone is planned in Zwickau.

In contrast, according to a spokesman in Leipzig, it amounts to a fireworks ban by general decree.

The details should be announced after Christmas.

The city of Chemnitz is still in the process of examining its approach, it said, and wants to coordinate it with other cities in Saxony.
