At half past six on Christmas morning, an explosion occurred in downtown Nashville.

Three people were taken to hospital but none of them are said to have received life-threatening injuries.

Several buildings on the street were damaged and a large area was evacuated after the loud bang.

It later turned out to be a motorhome that exploded and the police announced that they suspected that an "intentional act" was behind the incident, but they have not presented any motive.

The police have identified the person

According to the AP, the police have now been able to identify a person connected to the explosion.

The FBI, which is leading the investigation, is searching, among other things, a home with a connection to the person.

- There are no indications that there are threats of further explosions and we have not discovered any other explosive substances in the area, says Doglas Korneski, FBI agent and adds that 250 people are working with the investigation.

The police have already received around 500 tips.

The police urge witnesses who have information about the motorhome in question to contact the investigators.

- We turn every stone to find out who is responsible for this and why they did it.

We have technicians who carefully go through the crime scene and we also take help from our perpetrator profile group.

According to CNN, the police have made tissue findings in the immediate vicinity of the site of the explosion, and they are now investigating whether there are human remains.

It is unclear whether the tissue belongs to a suspect or an innocent person.

Warned of explosion

The events in Nashville first began as an alarm about gunfire.

When the police patrol arrived, a message was heard that seemed to be played from a motorhome parked along the street: “This area must be evacuated now.

If you can hear this message - evacuate now ”.

Police alerted the bomb squad and began evacuating nearby buildings.

Before the bomb cover arrived, the vehicle exploded.

The area was empty on Christmas morning and the warning message from the car means that the intention does not seem to have been to harm people.

- I do not want to speculate but it seems that the purpose was not to harm people but rather only cause material destruction.

But we do not know and that is why the investigation continues, police chief John Drake has previously said.
