Vaccines for the new coronavirus In Southeast Asia, Singapore is expected to start vaccination next month, and there are active movements toward procurement and use in each country.

According to Singapore's health authorities, vaccines developed by US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and others have already arrived in the country and are expected to begin vaccination next month.

We also want to procure vaccines that will be distributed to all residents by the end of September next year, including vaccines under development in Japan, and to complete the vaccination by the end of next year.

In Indonesia, we are reviewing approximately 155 million emergency uses of vaccines procured from a Chinese pharmaceutical company.

In Thailand, we are negotiating with a pharmaceutical company to procure a vaccine that covers half of the population, and we are also developing it in our own country.

Malaysia is expected to be able to procure vaccines that can cover 70% of the population if negotiations proceed smoothly, and there is active movement toward procurement and use in each country.

Some can be covered by a framework that promotes fair distribution

On the other hand, in Myanmar, where the infection continues to spread, only 20% of the population is expected to be procured, and the Philippines says that only 3% of the vaccines that can be procured during the next year are currently required. ..

These countries are trying to procure through the "COVAX Facility", a framework that promotes fair distribution by WHO = World Health Organization.

However, this framework only covers a portion of the population, highlighting the fact that it is far behind the countries that are embarking on their own finances to secure vaccines.
