Employees of the FSB of Russia together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs stopped the preparation of a terrorist attack in Makhachkala.

Detained four members of the "Islamic State" * cell, who were planning to carry out an explosion and attack on police officers.

"The Federal Security Service, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, prevented the preparation of a terrorist act in the city of Makhachkala, Republic of Dagestan," the FSB said in a statement.

Four terrorists were detained on December 25, the department noted.

They planned to set up an explosion near one of the administrative buildings of law enforcement agencies and attack the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, the FSB said.

“Firearms and edged weapons, a large amount of ammunition, an explosive device were found in a hiding place equipped by terrorists and in the address of a secret residence, and correspondence with coordinators of terrorist activities abroad was found in mobile phones,” the department noted.

A criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art.

205.5 of the Criminal Code of Russia (participation in the activities of a terrorist organization).

The issue of additional qualification of the criminal activities of the detainees under Art.

30 and Art.

205 of the Criminal Code of Russia (preparation for a terrorist act as part of a group of persons).

The identities of the detainees were not disclosed in the interests of the investigation.

A video of the arrest of extremists was also published.

Knives, grenades, records of the militants' expenses and a cache of weapons, including a grenade launcher, were captured in the frame.

A day earlier, it became known that the FSB had prevented a terrorist attack in Tambov.

Department officials detained a 17-year-old college student.

In the apartment rented by the suspect, they found "explosives, components for making an improvised explosive device, communication equipment containing Internet instructions for its assembly and use."

According to the investigation, the suspect is a supporter of destructive subcultures.

He was preparing to commit a terrorist act in one of the buildings in Tambov, using an improvised explosive device, the method of which he found on the Internet.

In addition, in November the security forces stopped the activities of the Islamic State's interregional cell.

Its members were planning a series of sabotage and terrorist acts in the Moscow region.

Along with this, they recruited new members into the ranks of IS, and also engaged in the financing of terrorism.

In October, the FSB officers detained a native of the Central Asian region, born in 1999, who was planning to commit a terrorist attack "in one of the buildings of the authorities using an improvised explosive device" in the Moscow region.

Terror attacks in Volgograd were prevented earlier in the month.

The video footage from the place where the militants were liquidated, published by the FSB's DSP, showed a map on which the Motherland Calls monument, located on the Mamayev Kurgan, was circled.

The preparation of the crime was carried out by two natives of Uzbekistan, aged 23 and 27, who were fighters of the cell of the international terrorist organization "Katiba Tawhid wal-Jihad" **.

During a meeting of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee and the Federal Operational Headquarters, he said that security officers had prevented 61 terrorist crimes, including 41 terrorist attacks.

During the counter-terrorist operations conducted by the Russian security forces, 49 bandits, including eight leaders, were neutralized, 36 gang leaders, 162 militants and 591 accomplices were detained.
