Several people have died and others are missing after a shipwreck that took place on Lake Albert on Wednesday.

A pirogue capsized as it traveled with its passengers from the DRC to Uganda to buy or sell products in a cross-border market.

Thursday evening, only 7 bodies had been recovered.

Survivors have testified to this tragedy.

They were surprised by a storm, according to Jean-Baptiste Lalo, from the Ituri civil society.

He also specifies that we must remain cautious on the balance sheet, even if the more time passes, the more the concern grows.

According to AFP, who quotes Ashraf Oromo, an official in the Ugandan administration in charge of the site from which the ship left, " 

26 bodies were recovered, and 21 people were rescued

".
