Manila, the capital of the Philippines, about 100 kilometers from the epicenter, felt the tremor was obvious.

  The Philippine Institute of Volcanoes and Seismology (Phivolcs) earthquake information announcement stated that the epicenter was located in Calatagan in the Batangas Mountains. It was a tectonic earthquake with a "medium intensity" shaking at intensity level IV.
