“Today the epidemiological situation in the Kaliningrad region is assessed as extremely difficult without a tendency to stabilization and is characterized by a daily increase in the number of cases,” RIA Novosti quotes Baburu.

According to her, the number of cases of pneumonia also remains high.

“We have an increase in the incidence among the age group 65 plus, the number of cases among children has increased,” she added.

The specialist recalled the most common recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor: wearing masks, maintaining social distance, reducing contacts.

Earlier in Kaliningrad, due to the situation with COVID-19, a festive concert and fireworks were canceled on New Year's Eve. 

In early December, Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko announced the tense situation with coronavirus in the Kaliningrad region.

As of December 25, 29,018 cases of COVID-19 were detected in Russia per day, of which 204 were in the Kaliningrad region.
