Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavaria's Minister of Health Melanie Huml (CSU) thanked all helpers in the fight against the corona pandemic for their commitment this year on Christmas Day.

"Without the enormous commitment, for example, in the hospitals, the care facilities and the health administration, the situation would be far more difficult than it is now," said Huml on Friday.

Special thanks go to all nurses and all other employees who “make an inestimable contribution to our society” in hospitals and nursing homes over Christmas too.

Huml also praised the people who have registered with the care pool Bavaria to work in retirement and nursing homes and hospitals. Volunteers can register via the platform www.pflegepool-bayern.de. There you can also see where there is a need for helpers. Employers receive financial compensation when they release employees to work in the care pool.
