He was in the shadow of the negotiations between London and Brussels.
Michel Barnier wants to find the light.
Guest of 20 hours of France 2 this Thursday evening, he now has only one desire: to find the French.
“
I miss France.
This country is in such a situation, with a lot of injustices, a lack of respect everywhere
”, he notes.
It is a clearly stated political ambition and he is sketching out what already looks a lot like a program.
“
There is regaining trust with the territories, there is the respect and authority that must often be restored, there is this ecological growth.
There is the fight, which the French President is also leading and which I support, for a European France,
”he continues.
Join Macronie or Les Républicains?
Crowned with his
success in Brussels
, Michel Barnier has two possible paths ahead of him.
He could join Macronie, but today, the posts around Emmanuel Macron are already occupied.
The other scenario would be to take the leadership from Les Républicains for the next one.
The former minister of Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy could try to bring his political family together.
Nobody has so far imposed on the right.
But again, it is not won.
If some LR deputies greeted
the Brexit negotiator
, the Republican staff did not have a public word for him.
Michel Barnier has yet to find his airstrip.
