Munich (dpa / lby) - The countdown for the start of the corona vaccinations in Bavaria is on.

Health Minister Melanie Huml and Health State Secretary Klaus Holetschek (both CSU) will visit a senior citizens' residence in the Fürstenfeldbruck district on Sunday to kick off the vaccinations, as the ministry announced on Friday.

District Administrator Thomas Karmasin (CSU) will also attend the event.

The first 9,750 vaccine doses are due to arrive in Munich and Erlangen on Saturday. From there they are distributed to all 99 vaccination centers in Bavaria. The next day the first mobile vaccination teams will leave the vaccination centers. In the first few days, the vaccination will largely take place in old people's and nursing homes and in hospitals for their staff. In addition to home residents, this includes the staff in the homes and medical staff in intensive care units and emergency rooms.
