A study shows that the mutant coronavirus that spreads in the UK is about 56% more contagious than the existing virus.

Although the figure is a little lower than the 70% estimated by the British government earlier, there are concerns that the emergence of the mutant virus will increase the number of Corona 19 deaths next year than this year.

According to AFP, the analysis of the'Infectious Disease Mathematical Modeling Center' under the London Graduate School of Tropical Medicine estimated that the spread of the mutant Corona 19 virus, which appeared last month in southeast England, is about 56% stronger than the existing virus.

Besides its propagation power, it is not yet clear how deadly this mutant virus is compared to the original virus of Corona 19, the center said.

The center was concerned that even if the current restrictions in the UK continue, the mutant virus could be more contagious and could lead to more hospitalizations and deaths next year than this year.

The center said it would not be possible to stop the spread of the infection, especially unless elementary, middle and high schools and universities in the UK were shut down, and pointed out the need to speed up vaccine distribution even further.
