The lack of cold and the lack of snow is evident at the ski resorts south of Lake Siljan.

No slopes yet have any skiing for Christmas holidaymakers except Säfsen's ski resort which has two small children's slopes running.

Otherwise, the lifts are stationary at the other facilities.

- We have two enemies and that is the corona pandemic and the weather, says Bo Funcke who is CEO and runs Romme alpine in Borlänge.

Many book off

Both Romme alpine and Bjursås ski center and camping have had a good booking situation, but as snow and cold have not been forthcoming, they have suffered many cancellations.

- Of course it is an economic setback, 2020 is a special year, says CEO Per Kempe in Bjursås.

Despite this, the future is positive, as meteorologists have hinted at minus degrees for Christmas Eve and beyond.

- We will try to get some slopes started as soon as it gets a little cold.

We do not give up, says Helena Kvarnström, business area manager in Bjursås.

Romme's CEO Bo Funcke is also hopeful:

- If we only get real cold for three days, we can make snow and open some slopes on the mountain, he says.
