Hanover (dpa / lni) - At the start of the Christmas days, it was noticeably quiet on Christmas Eve on the highways in Lower Saxony and Bremen.

Despite slightly relaxed contact restrictions in the Corona crisis at Christmas, there was little traffic on the motorways, as the records of the Lower Saxony traffic management center showed.

Traffic jams and jams were not reported from any part of the country, and traffic ran smoothly on all routes.

Lower Saxony had given guests the option of staying in a hotel for visits to relatives over the Christmas period.

At the same time, however, there was a call to celebrate the festival in small groups and to stay at home.

Apparently, many people followed the appeal, as the traffic situation showed.
