Munich (dpa / lby) - The Munich Cardinal Reinhard Marx pointed out at Christmas the bond between people and with God, even in times of the Corona.

"God is at home in the middle of our world, especially now in the Corona period," says the Archbishop of Munich and Freising, according to a text previously distributed in his Christmas sermon on Christmas Eve in Munich's Liebfrauendom.

"He is there: in the intensive care units and in the nursing homes, he is at home with the homeless, with those on the run and with the children on the island of Lesbos," says Marx.

May God be present with the families who are celebrating Christmas in a small group this year.

"He is there where, especially this year, many people are lonely and alone, and maybe just sing a" Silent Night "softly for themselves."

Even if it is painful that Christmas services can only be celebrated to a limited extent and under strict conditions this year, it is good «that we are connected, and I am also grateful for the technical possibilities so that those who celebrate services in the Churches and those who are in families, in nursing homes or at home alone can celebrate together ».

Church goers must be home by 9 p.m. at the latest.

From then on, until 5 a.m. in the morning, only those who have a really valid reason are allowed on the streets across Bavaria.

Church-goers must reserve seats in the Liebfrauendom in advance due to Corona.

Only 130 people can take part in person, they have to wear a mask.

According to an office spokesman, the places for Christmas and the first day of Christmas were already taken days in advance.

Otherwise, well over 1000 believers come to the cathedral for the central church services at Christmas and Easter.
