Hanover (dpa / lni) - The Protestant regional bishop Ralf Meister and the Catholic bishop of the Hildesheim diocese, Heiner Wilmer, broadcast a 15-minute service from a cult pub in Hanover on Christmas Eve.

“Do not be afraid,” was the central Christmas message of the two bishops who had recorded the service that was available on the Internet in advance.

"We miss security and certainty and are now seeing where life has otherwise given us so richly," said Bishop Wilmer with a view to the Corona crisis.

But the message is that God does not leave people alone in their fear, said Bishop Meister.

"As unusual as these times are, the two leading clergymen wanted to organize this service," announced the regional church.

The bishops justified the choice of location with the fact that a pub was a kind of hostel.

In addition, it is a sign of solidarity with landlords who have a hard time in the pandemic.
