24 December 2020 400 ski resorts open. A decision taken, the Austrian government explained, because it is an outdoor sport and safety is guaranteed following anti-Covid rules.



Austria therefore allowed the opening, just two days before the country enters its third national coronavirus lockdown. 



However, hotels, bars and restaurants remain closed, in this way it is explained, the entrance of the skiers will be controlled.



The national lockdown provides for the closure of shops and much of the service sector until mid-January.
